Mothertongue signs to Bad Elephant Music!

We’re delighted to announce that Manchester six-piece band Mothertongue has joined the Bad Elephant Music family!

An inspirational, progressive-pop melting pot with touches of punk and ska thrown in for good measure, Mothertongue defies any form of categorisation. Infectious and fun, the band’s stated influences include anything from science fiction to imaginary numbers, oh, and dinosaurs, mustn’t forget the Dinosaurs….

With its incisive, intelligent lyrics and first-class musicianship, the band’s debut album Unsongs is unlike anything you will have heard in recent years. The music will lead you on a roller-coaster journey of acid jazz inventiveness that’s a big heap of noisy and light and also includes a lot of brass because everyone likes brass, right?

John Simms (Mothertongue): “We heard of Bad Elephant Music through a shared acquaintance and their lack of reserve and pomposity appealed to us immediately. The fact they don’t take themselves seriously and love a curry sealed the deal! The ride may be bumpy but it’s sure to be fun!”

Martin Hutchinson (BEM): “You know when you first hear something and it just blows you away? That was how everybody at Bad Elephant when we heard Unsongs for the first time. This is the sort of music that defines originality and creativity given free rein, and it’s VERY BEM!”

Unsongs will be released in the first half of 2016.
